Two Maryville College softball players were named to the Atlantic Region first team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Pitcher Katlyn Smith and second baseman Taylor Campbell were the honorees. The sophomores led the Scots to a second consecutive USA South Athletic Conference Tournament title this season, which netted the program successive appearances in the NCAA Tournament for the first time.

Counting the postseason, Smith had a 1.55 ERA and 200 strikeouts in 167 2/3 innings. She was named the USA South's Pitcher of the Year following the regular season.

Campbell hit .475 this season and had 21 extra-base hits on her way to a slugging percentage of .800. She finished with nine home runs and 45 RBIs.

Both players are eligible for All-America honors, which will be announced on Wednesday.
