SIX MILE COMMUNITY REUNION: Will be held Saturday, Sept. 21, at Six Mile Baptist Church pavilion. This will be a potluck dinner. Attendees are asked to bring photos, stories of the churches, schools and community to share. Open to anyone interested in the history of the community. THE WELCOME TABLE: New Providence Presbyterian Church, located at 703 W. Broadway in Maryville offers a free meal to the community from 5-6 p.m. each Tuesday. The Welcome Table is also offered from 5-6 p.m. each Thursday at Maryville First United Methodist Church, 804 Montvale Station Road. All are welcome.

Health, Fitness

MENTAL HEALTH AND SUICIDE PREVENTION ALLIANCE OF BLOUNT COUNTY: Meets from noon to 1 p.m. the first Friday of every month at Blount Partnership, 201 S. Washington St., Maryville. The group is dedicated to improving mental health and preventing suicide through awareness, direct action and advocacy. Those interested in working toward the case are welcome.

Melanie joined The Daily Times in the early 90s and has served as the Life section editor since 1993. A William Blount and UT alum, Melanie is generally the early arriver who turns on the lights in the newsroom.
